Safety

Community Standards.

Effective August 8, 2026

A community for being outside together

Sturgeon Groups help people walk, run, hike, ride, and care for public places together. Everyone who creates, joins, or posts to a group must follow these standards.

Content and behavior we do not allow

  • Harassment, bullying, stalking, threats, or encouragement of self-harm.
  • Hate speech or attacks based on protected characteristics.
  • Sexual content, sexual solicitation, or any sexual content involving minors.
  • Graphic violence, credible threats, or promotion of violent organizations.
  • Instructions or invitations for dangerous, illegal, or destructive activity.
  • Spam, scams, impersonation, manipulated engagement, or deceptive promotion.
  • Private or identifying information shared without permission.
  • Content that infringes copyright or another person's rights.

Reporting and blocking

Use the safety menu on a group, post, comment, or profile to report it. Reporting sends the content and your selected reason to the Sturgeon safety team. Blocking is separate: it prevents the two accounts from seeing or interacting with one another in Groups.

For an immediate threat, contact local emergency services first. You can also reach us at safety@sturgeonproject.org.

How we enforce these rules

We may limit distribution, remove content, cancel an outing, suspend an account, or ban an account. We consider severity, context, prior violations, and immediate safety risk. Reports are reviewed by a person. Automated filters are only an early warning layer.

Response targets

We triage credible threats and child safety reports immediately, other high-risk reports within 24 hours, and routine reports within two business days.
